Please, would anyone have airframe repair AP’s drawings for the Auster III or Plus D and either an Auster 5, J/1 or 6 fuselages. These are for modelling purposes and I’d like to scale side views of the fuselages and compare them on a light board to see “if” and where there are any similarities and shared datums. I do have the Granger and Bowly drawings but I need to check their accuracy.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi John
Well, the Auster has come a long way since you saw her. I have tracked down a lot of her history and prev pilots and engineers now. Progress is of course visually taking a long time but there is always a lot happening. I am going to a lot of pains to have her in her factory original T.7 configuration which is challenging to say the least, but I am getting there. I have set up a facebook page for her if you are interested on following along with her progress. My engineers reckon I will have to fly her in my socks as she is looking too pretty…Lol. Anyway here is the link if you (or anyone else for that matter) is interested. https://www.facebook.com/Austerwe552/
I am now the NZ rep for the IAC which is a lot of fun and that can keep me quite busy from time to time now.
Yes John, I pop up on BM and LSP from time to time, but dont get a lot of modelling done anymore unfortunately. I will see what I might have, but I mostly have drawings related to the AOP6/T.7. Funny thing I learnt that the 6&7 has slightly more dihedral than earlier Austers with the struts being about 1/2inch longer.
Glad to hear you are well and dont forget to look me up again if you are over
Cheers
Anthony

Hi Anthony
I’ve often wondered how your Auster is coming along since I saw it in your garage some years ago. Forumite Anon in the above post has been most helpful. What I need is airframe layouts for the Auster Mk.III or it’s civil predecessor the model D for comparison with a later airframe structure which after the III are much the same. I know there are differences in the wings and ailerons too.
Any help will be gratefully received.
I noticed that you had popped up on BM.
Kind regards
John

John,
I have an AP somewhere with all the repair schemes for the civilian Austers. Not sure where it is at the moment but I’ll have a rummage around my various stores and see if I can locate it. Please feel free to PM me to keep me on the case, it is there somewhere and may not turn up straight away.

Please forgive me if I’m stating the obvious and/or suggesting a route down which you’ve been already, but might not the Auster Club and/or Leicester Museum Services be of assistance to you?
