ex Royal Navy AD-4W Skyraider Num: 127949 for sale on platinum

I’m hoping my lottery numbers will come up, would look great next to a Gannet. Am i wrong to think the Skyraider was the first AEW to be operated by UK?

Both are in pretty bad condition due corrosion. Spent a day assessing both last year. At least the one in doors won’t get any worse. The one outside is just a bare frame and not suitable for much

The RN already have two Skyraiders at Yeovilton. I doubt they need to purchase another one – they could renovate WT121 or even WV106….

What is the internal condition like of WV106?

What a lovely airworthy addition this would be to the RNHF… in another world of course where experience, funds & spare parts weren’t an issue! One can dream…

Operationally in numbers possibly, i’d need to check the dates with the RAF’s Vanguard flight operating Neptunes (I think the Skyraider was earlier) but the original British AEW aircraft was a Wellington:

Nice!

I note that the Lone Star Hurricane (damaged in a landing mishap with Bill Greenwood’s Spitfire a few years back and then flood damaged) is up for sale at $495,000 ‘as is’: –

Looks like quite a bit of work (££ or $$) is needed to get it back in the air again.

Cheers
