Just announced on the BBC that the military is to vacate Ternhill by 2020 and will be sold for housing.

A post on the ARG forum from someone working there says it will be needed for new heli’s.

And they’ve also just announced that the only surviving local ATC gliding school will be at Tern Hill
614 VGS is also one the safe ones but MOD Wethersfield may go to housing by 2020 making them homeless

Many thanks for the clarification, sounds like the airfield itself isn’t affected so good news.

I can’t see that. They’re pouring money into Shawbury and they’ll need Ternhill as a satellite airfield for general handling.

Crikey, the airfield’s days will be numbered then once the noise complaints from the new residents start pouring in. Maybe that’s the plan, then build more houses?
Yours cynically, Anon.

It’s only the barracks the airfield will remain in use.

The barracks, yes. It doesn’t mention the airfield. Thanks for the alert.
