228 OCU Wellingtons in the 1950s

I am researching late Mk Wellingtons and I know that 228 OCU operated the Mk XVIIIs for a while during the 1950s…but does anyone know what colour scheme the unit used?
Thanks,
Ed

Hi Dave,
I think it’s difficult to say given the quality of the photo…could it just as easily be camouflaged like the one above?

Many thanks for the replies. I had thought they were largely black as in the attached (apologies to the photographer, I have no idea whose picture it is) which I think is a Mk XVIII. Any more thoughts or photos would be most welcome!

The photo in the Britmodeller thread certainly suggests medium Sea Grey over Black

The section of cowl from MF113 that I have was night black on the lower surface.

They were phased out on 228OCU in Sept 1951. My logbook records two trips in ND114, 13 Sept and 17 Sept. While the rest of my instruction on AI Mk10 took place on the Brigand T4 between 6 Sept and 18 Oct ’51. Sorry, too long ago to remember colour, that was a minor detail to a 19 year old.

I would imagine that they were silver with yellow bands just like the T10

It would appear not
