I’ve just posted my film of Fighter Meet 1997 on Youtube, hadn’t seen it for a few years, brought back some great memories!

Those runway head-ons are awesome, particularly the Jag.
Gutted that this happened 20 mins down the road from me and all I was bothered about at the time was playing with Lego or something.

Ah yes, Wroughton is where I was thinking of. As well a getting confused between the FM and GW’s

GWAD moved to Wroughton from West Malling.

Brendan Walsh who was running Dave Gilmours aviation side of things inthe old Aces High hangar took over and run about 3 events if I recall but could not call then the Fighter Meet, which moved to Orsett as The Orsett Air Days I think along with Norman Lees as Display coordinator.
Did the Fighter Meet go to Wroughton or was that Great Warbirds?

Not as far as I know, but I stand to be corrected. The fighter Meet moved away to the west country I seem to recall,
before moving back. Although I may have that wrong ?
I thought the “Fighter Meet” event was held at North Weald from the mid 80’s until the mid-90’s.
The first RIAT was held there in the 70’s before moving elsewhere.

That would probably have been the first RIAT then??

Very nice. I only ever went to one Fighter Meet, and that was pre M11. When Four lightnings flew in formation.

Just had a quick five minute taster and I have to say that the Tornado ADV opener was superb……….and that’s from someone who has never cared for the Tonka of either flavour.
I’m saving the rest for some nice bedtime viewing!
Thanks Steve for posting.

So many familiar faces at the briefing.
