With the ‘Sparky’ badge and the Boy Entrant service number, I would say that he joined up as a Boy Entrant in early 1961 and did his training at Cosford, maybe 43rd or 44th Entry. Plenty of Boy Entrant sites on the web to check out.

As Dennis says, marksman badge. Awarded for getting 25 out of 30 rounds in a 4 inch group at annual range practice. This uniform is not aircrew but an electronics tradesman aka ‘Sparky’- no aircrew brevet on the front of the jacket.

Marksman badge (qualification) used to mean extra pay too: never got mine sewn on and still have them somewhere. Also visible is a ‘sparks’ badge, as worn by RAF radio operators (air or ground trades).
Service no. possibly July 1954 boy entrant?
