Just scanning some old photos and came across a few of C-130K XV215 in an overall distemper/white colour scheme. I know I took them at Lyneham, but cannot recall a date. Can anyone advise?
I’m assuming it was related to ops in Norway, but I can’t recall that either. Around this time a couple of other Hercs were painted in an overall pink/hemp scheme – pre-first Gulf War, so probably 1988-ish?

There were trials carried out in late 1992 in Cyprus with effectively a white Hercules and an 84 Squadron Wessex.

IIRC there were ‘pink’ trials earlier (Pre GUlf War) where they painted a couple of C-130s in different schemes, out in Cyprus.
This suggests that Duncan’s shots were taken in late 92:

If AMB is about he can no doubt tell more!

On another forum I found the following mention:
“They did some trials when i was stationed there (90-94)using XV215, painted it green, light grey, pinkish sand, white & black. Wishing i had a camera at the time!! (& no not all the colours at the same time!!)
Dave”
