Alan, the rocker arm assembly can rotate on its location before tightening the locking ring.

Silly question why does the push rod and rocker appear to be mounted 180^o out of position on your cylinder?

I considered that one myself, TT, having that prominent valve/rocker case but discounted it on the basis that all the AS engines used a lock ring to secure the cylinders into the crank case. The cylinder in P&P’s pic has a four-hole flange.
