Hot on the heels of the Pegasus Bridge movie announcement we have this.
Forgive the Google translation
There are ten days Vergriete Patrice announced the filming of an American blockbuster in June 2016. Without saying more. According to our information, it is Christopher Nolan who gets stuck with a film inspired by the evacuation of Dunkirk in May-June 1940. It remains to know the key players …
Spielberg, Tarantino, Allen, Coppola, Cameron? You can then stop the contest predictions launched on December 16 after the announcement made by the laconic Mayor of Dunkirk, and that the city will be the scene of the shooting of an American blockbuster. Although the municipality is desired to confirm our information is that Christopher Nolan will direct.
Patrice Vergriete promised “a world-famous director.” This is the case with this amazing character in his creations, and broke the blockbuster productions of several hundred million dollars, capable of handling sensitive issues such as memory (Memento) or dream (Inception), to push the limits human in space (Interstellar), or plunge the audience into a dazzling thriller about the world of magic and illusion (The Prestige). But one can very well realize Batman and became interested in History with a capital H.
Came incognito in Dunkirk
It is even passionately Anglo American Christopher Nolan evokes the conflict of the Second World War. Completely incognito during his recent visits to Dunkirk with his brother Jonathan, he absorbed the territory, its past and the consequences of the conflict. Reassured by the welcome given by the port and the city, it has been sufficiently filled to address, following a shooting authorization request.
And Peninsula Film confirmed earlier this week we have booked hotels, before attacking, as a co-producer, hiring intermittent, the locations and scenery installation.
Dynamo third!
After Dunkirk Leslie Norman (1958) and Weekend at Dunkirk Henri Verneuil (1964), Operation Dynamo return to the screens. The entire world film press had already checked on 21 July 2017 as the release date of the next film by Christopher Nolan, but with a huge question mark on the subject, regretting the cult of secrecy expertly maintained by the director. She now knows he will iodized scent of Northern beaches in the storm of 1940.
The decor ? The harbor, beaches and coastal airspace. The main actors ? Communication scheduled for early next year, but Christopher Nolan has a habit of turning with “heavy” (see below).

Not to forget the RAF combats (and KIA’s) that took place without the troops on the beaches seeing them, only to complain later on their return, “Where were the bloody RAF”?

A local TA Royal Engineers battalion was sent over to destroy the oil supply plants on the French, Belgian and Dutch coasts. 7 of them were killed, some on the Lancastria. A relieved Churchill awarded several DSOs.They would have had North Kent accents though….

At least there’s no bloody dog for people to get their knickers in a twist about.
It seemed to get played again in full on TV yesterday and every time nigger was scripted in the film, it was used in full. There was a warning about ‘offensive’ language at the end of each break though.
It would be great to see these two films getting made and it will certainly make a change to see some new Brit-centric films being made (re-made). Long overdue I think.
I just wonder if any others are going to come along?

Could the GAF paint a few tornados to look like the Luftwaffe?:)
Could just harken back to ‘Eagle’s Over London’ and use the ‘North American JU 87 ‘Harvastukas’ and ‘Messerspits’

I always enjoy the existing movie, but there’s lots of scope to highlight the story of the withdrawal and the rearguard action as well as the Little Ships story.

New movie about Dunkirk
I read that Christopher Nolan is about to begin on a movie about the Dunkirk evacuation. Filming is to be on the site itself. This must also have a bit of aerial footage I would think.
So Hurricanes, Spitfires and Messerschmitts will be no problem to source but the Heinkel, Dornier and Junkers will.
Options are CGI or mock ups, any info from those in the know?

Could be interesting – although I’m not a big fan of Nolan’s work myself.

That would indeed be good news, if it actually comes to something. Chris Nolan’s films are always worth a look.
