P-51D 'Miss Helen' has a new owner

Taking delivery this week, I understand

I just hope he doesn’t get fed up with it and decides to smash it to bits with his JCB. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/oxfordshire/2940033.stm

So, does this mean Lamplough has stopped flying high performance aircraft?

T J

Maybe to help finance the me109e???

That will be worth a few quid when it’s done!!

you don’t need a pilot’s licence to drive a JCB:)

I remember poking my head into North Weald when this aeroplane was being prepared for Empire of the Sun I think, Robs pushed the rebuild forward at a pace to meet the deadline only for this P51 not to be used if I remember correctly.

Robs Lamplaough, a real character.
New owner Robert Tyrell originated from Brentwood I think if its the same one we grew up together !

Normally he shouldn´t be allowed to keep his pilots licence after such an event (if he has one)!

He must have quite a large bank account to be able to afford to do that damage and afford the purchase and upkeep of a P51.

There was a bent propeller blade reputedly from its ‘ding’ at Duxford being offered on eBay recently.
