A group of Sixth Formers at my school (Beaumont Secondary School in St Albans, Herts, uk) are holding a charity event in June of next year, most of the profit of which will go to the Prince’s trust.
I came up with the idea of a ‘sit in a Spit’ type set up, where visitors can sit in the cockpit for a couple of quid.
I was wondering if anyone has a replica Spitfire in the UK which we can borrow for the event, any leads or links will be greatly appreciated
Regards
Chris

I shall patiently wait a reply. I have to say, I think I saw this aircraft previously at a display, might have been Hendon, I was highly impressed by the attention to detail, one could hardly tell it was a replica!

Ok sir!well I’m well aware of the ins and outs and lets just say you were made well aware of what you were buying and we could only go by what we knew of the history of the piece in question.Im not trying to point fingers or say who’s right or wrong I’m just making a point of saying there’s no need to publicly post it on here. The only thing I am questioning is your last few lines are you suggesting we made the spinner?

Actually sir, I did indeed send many many emails at the time of the incident, of which no replies were received once the deal had concluded. My mistake was not really delving into the package until after paypal complaint time had expired. And I did get the the serial number of the machine it was off of, but you did not tell me the spinner was a new build spinner, as opposed to the ebay ad and personal assurances via email it was an original wartime production spinner (of which my inquiring questions were very clear on establishing the difference between the two). Anyway, I have since sold it on at a big loss, but was upfront about the spinner’s origin.
Nevertheless, it is an amazing piece of work constructed by Mr. Arlow.

Hi Steve,
Can you have a word in your dad’s ear about me popping up at some point to visit Tony – I know he’s been tied up recently but if he has a spare day this month it would be great!
Bob (Gun Camera wiz) 😉

The Spitfire Society have one, you could try them. I don’t know where it is kept (nor do virtually everyone in the Society) and it is allegedly hired out.
and try one of the linked names- I would go for the Chairman, personally.
