Pilot Hours On Type, Warbirds And Vintage.

Seeing Moggs post on Charlie Browns 1000th hour on spits, a massive achievement that got me wondering about other dispaly pilot/owners and the type hours they have or had.

Who is the highest houred on:

Hurricanes
Spitfires
The Blenhiem (I am guessing JR)
Harvard : I thought at some point it was gary Numan but possibly not any more.
P51 here in the UK
B17 I think will be Kieth Sissons
Buchon again must be JR

and of course other vintage aircraft such as the Tiger Moth etc

So as we go through the keyhole it is over to you.

Ray and Mark Hanna must of accumulated a vast amount just on MH434

Quite impressive, isn’t it. Lacy has the longest standing ownership as an ‘individual’ of a 51 today. Second is George Perez, and Jack Hovey would be third. Ed Maloney is also there as well, but he is not really a private owner as such.

Lacy has owned his Mustang for 50+ years, that too is probably a record.

Clay Lacy has flown more than 300 aircraft types, logged more than 50,000 flight hours and accumulated more hours flying turbine aircraft than any other pilot in the world. His hours also include a lot on warbirds P-51. F-86, F7F etc…

Lindsay Walton must be the highest time pilot on the Me108/Nord 1002

Probably the most “shot down” in one as well, poor guy [or whoever was flying it] never stood a chance with the Spitfires and P51s sitting on his tail whilst the smoke poured out of the 108. ๐Ÿ™‚

Peter Teichmann will have accumulated a good few hours on his Hangar 11 stable, I would have thought.

I’d imagine Brian Smith is pretty close to Keith Skilling with regards to the amount of hours in Corsair’s too.

Cliff Spink must be near to 1,000 hours in Spitfires, what with his BBMF days and numerous flights in the ARCo Spitfire’s.

Would think that Steve Hinton has a rather full log book.

I think Walter Eichorn should be the most experienced pilot on 109ยดs and Bouchons after the war. He flew the Mercedes Bouchons from the Messerschmit Stiftung for many years. Also he flew several other 109/Bouchons from other owners.

Andy Dixon must be a contender for DC-3/C-47 Dizzy shared the Dak flying with Peter

Ray and Mark Hanna had a good number of hours on spits and 109
