My friend who was a submariner told me that the dive control wheel in his submarine was from an aircraft, while this sounds improbable, I have posted a picture below and wonder what people think. Any help would be much appreciated. Does it look a bit like a Hercules yoke ?

Submarines and hovercraft do have similar steering yokes to aircraft, but how similar I’m not entirely sure. A search on ‘submarine steering wheel’ on google images does provide a variety of examples.
