I recall G-BFIR had a centre section replacement after an incident at East Midlands. A centre section from the Wessex Aviation Society headed out to N.Z for the museum Anson there .

Most of the Ansons ended up being parted out or scrapped

Not so Mike. Most survive as follows:

G-AGWE ended up in the USA. I photographed the frame of this at Tico many years ago (though I believe it has since moved on).

G-AHIC I think was parted out and, IIRC, some components may have been used in repairs to G-BFIR at that time (but my memory may be faulty on that).

G-AHKX remains airworthy and is lodged at Old Warden

G-APHV is complete and continues its static restoration at East Fortune (but it used to fly when with Strathallan)

G-AWRS is complete and on static display at NEAM / NELSAM

G-AYWA all parts survived; major components formed part of the Anson mix / package now in Belgium.

To complete the picture, G-BFIR (later re-registered as G-VROE) was never part of Willie Roberts’ collection but was later stored for a while at Strathallan and survives with us a Coventry in airworthy condition.

A surprisingly good survival rate, even if only one flew again after leaving Strathallan.

I can recommend Chapter 10 of Wrecks & Relics – Lost Aviation Collections of Britain by Ken Ellis published by Crecy in 2011 for the whole Strathallan story including disposal details. The book was a special edition to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘mainstream’ W&R title.

Do they have a Battle???

They had a cmplete Battle and an extra fuselage didn’t they – the spare fuselage went to St Athan for the rebuild of the RAFM example. The more complete Blenheim went to East Fortune and the second one now forms the basis of the ARC Blenheim rebuilt after the Denham debacle. The Hurricane was lost in the CWH fire in Canada wasn’t it?and the Spits were ML407, MJ772, PV202 and NH904

The Battle went to Belgium in the 1990’s in exchange for Spitfire XIV RN201.

Not sure, had a lot of rare interesting items one of which is sitting 20ft away in the shape or a Seafire prop blade, I have 3 collected from Strathallan in the 1980s
