Beaufort and Beaufighter parts cache found in Australia

G’day all

just to advise that we have recently recovered a significant collection of parts for both Beaufort and Beaufighter aircraft.

If you wish to check out our finds then visit http://www.reevers.com.au and select parts for sale or trade. All of these parts are for sale and would make an excellent contribution to any restoration to fly or static projects.

Of course the AUD is very low at the minute so its a good time for international buyers to grab a bargain – please no tyre kickers, if you are serious we can send more images. Would like to see these go to a good project.

regards

Engines are coming along slowly 🙂
http://www.warbirdsonline.com.au/2016/02/12/dap-beaufighter-engine-restoration-update/

Slightly curious the references to ‘rare three-bladed propeller-shafts’ in that article because what the photograph showed, although they were propeller-shafts, the three ‘prongs’ sticking out of them have nothing to do with the propellers…

…they are for the three pinions of the Farman reduction-gears and were common to all Hercules engines.

Although the Hercules could be fitted with a three or four-bladed propeller, and post-war the four-bladed propeller was more common, I think the propeller shaft and splines are common to both types.

The reference to ‘blades having to be manufactured’ is very interesting.

Was thinking the same thing PanzerJohn.
Guess it’s all down to money and availability

Very good news! I’m guessing the Reevers team has been in touch with Rob Greinert and the HARS team, and TFC to see if any parts could be useful to them for their Beaufighters?

Actually, not to mention the two Beaufort restoration projects in Oz, too! Wonderful news.
