Dear forumites,
yesterday I was told by the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (formerly Western Canada Aviation Museum) that they had to scap the one and only Saunders ST-28 in 2014 because “vandals had rendered the airframe unfit for restoration”!
The Saunders ST-28 a commuter/taxi aircraft designed to meet FAR 25 for the US market for 22 passengers powered by two PT6A turboprops. December 12, 1975 the first production airplane c/n 101 registered C-GYAP flew – and made its last flight only some weeks later April 26, 1976. Since this time it was first stored in a hangar at the old Gimli airport and then parked outside, last position in 2012 between hangar #2 & 3.
I like to post five photos of her for all that maybe haven’t seen this plane before, despite not knowing all the legal rights of the photos!
Martin

Sad, the ‘ultimate’ Heron!
Not quite – the ST-28 was built completely new!
The ST-28 prototype C-FYBM-X was a converted ST-27 c/n 005 and this was a converted Heron c/n 14087
