In Sherborne Museum we have a perspex panel, distorted, which a local man found in his garden close to the A30, east of Sherborne, quite a while ago. He stated it was from a crashed Hurricane.
Various lists give a Hurricane crashing, fairly close to where it was found, on 30th September 1940, but there was also a fatal mid-air collision involving 2 Miles Masters from 759 Squadron, based at Yeovilton, which may have come down in the vicinity on 12 July 1944.
The panel measures 67cm x 54cm and the corners are not right angles. The framing marks are clearly visible.
