Trident 3 forward fuselage, G-AWZU will be officially unveiled at the museum on Saturday following a 6-month restoration. Retired pilot, Peter Lewis, who racked up 80 hours on her as a first officer will ‘cut the ribbon’. She’ll be used to tell the story of ‘Autoland’, developed by Gloucestershire-based Smiths Industries.

Really good to see JAM going from strength to strength! Externally at least it looks superb, and I’m sure the inside is just as well-done 🙂

Yet another reason to visit. Had many autolandings in a Trident. It felt as if the engines were in reverse at 10 feet before it thumped down like a carrier arrival.

Glad to see this saved and a very nice job made of the restoration. Never flew in one but saw them on occasional visits to Edinburgh Airport. Airliners of its generation are in real need of saving so well done!
