Archaeology Students Summer Digs

I have heard that Cardiff archaeology students are being offered the chance to undertake their compulsory summer dig in Germany digging on an HP Halifax Mk3 that crashed in 1944.

Any further knowledge on the aircraft and dig ?

Only this

“….Dear fellow archaeologists,

I work with Heritage authorities in Germany (hessenArchäologie) to offer field-schools for students across Europe.
This year we are digging in Hungen, near Giessen, in Germany, and excavating the remains of a MKIII Halifax bomber, shot down in 1944.

This is usually only offered to students of the University of Winchester, however, due to the unfortunate placement of their training excavation this yea, I have several spaces open for any archaeological student or professional to join us for 2 weeks in September.

Costs are €100 for FULL bed and board for 2 weeks plus travel costs to and from Germany (usually under 150 pounds).

All the best,

Steven Hubbard…”
