This was dug up on a First and Second World War period airfield recently but is so far defying identification. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?
As you can see from the measuring stick, it is approximately 50cm long (or about 18 inches in proper money). There are a couple of metal pins sticking out the side, which could be the remains of a metal suspension loop. It is pretty heavy and appear to be a solid, rather than hollow, casting.
