Westland 100

On the Sunday of the weekend that saw most enthusiasts debating to go to either the Yeovilton Air day or Legends at Duxford, AgustaWestland held their Families day event. Mercifully the rain stopped for the duration of the flying display but low cloud and flat light meant that my photography was kept mostly to the hangars and the wonders therein. In keeping with the forum here are the historic bits of the day

The Whirlwind project were displaying their progress.

Westlands 007 connection was on display with help from the local Haynes car museum

Even G-LYNX made the trip from Western Super Mare

The flying display was mostly modern (home grown) rotary although a Seafire and Swordfish took part along with these two old girls.

This was a Families day event so you had to work there or be a family member. There were also a few stands from organisations with connections to Westlands, such as the Whirwind project, The Helicopter Museum, the Museum of Army Flying etc which is how I got in.

Great pics. I didn’t know there was a Whirlwind still flying. Explains how it got to the Weston air day! The ‘other’ Whirlwind is gaining quite an aircraft shape now. Impressive work.

Thanks for posting up the photos, aeronut, that looks to of been a cracking day. The Whirlwind display is particularly eye catching.
Was this just an in-house display or were the public admitted too?
