I don’t know if anyone’s put up a thread about this before, I think it was mentioned on the Duxford Diary thread, having been sitting outside ARCo for a short stay.
But where is the casa now? and does anyone know it’s exact intended destination.
I heard something about America, which seems a pity as the the only one I recall we have (at Duxford shoved in a hangar corner) is in a state of disrepair and sadly cannot even represent a Heinkel for the BoB anniversary…it doesn’t seem like work will begin on it properly for a very long time either.

Is there anyone on the forum who might know the plans for the Duxford example?

With the worldwide Luftwaffe resurgence of the last 10yr – original and new-build 190s, the 109s and Buchon conversions – the absence of “enemy” bombers/attack aircraft must be quite noticeable. It would be wonderful to see a 111 of some sort appear on the airshow scene. There is an airworthy 2.111 in the US – Cavanaugh Flight Museum? – but from memory it hasn’t flown for a long time.
I do like the idea of a BOB68 “Heinkel”, Daz! Imagine it banking around Duxford’s display line with Yellow 10 on its wing…
I wish I could help the FHC with their Ju87 needs…I really, really want to see one of those fly. I’m sure it will eventually appear out of the blue like the Shturmovik.
I can’t offer any information about the remaining Duxford CASA other than what’s been said on the forum – I think it isn’t going anywhere any time soon, including to a workshop. But I’m happy to be proven wrong or corrected.

So would I, I think it would look amazing, hence I wish they were restoring it at the moment, would be handy for the BoB anniversary and all

I know it probably won’t happen, but I would love to see the Duxford CASA in Battle of Britain movie colours. The type has a fair degree of history with the airfield, so it would be a shame not to!

Incidentally whilst on the topic, does anyone know whether anything is to be done with the one in the ‘restoration hangar’ at Duxford?

The CASA sitting outside belongs to the Flying Heritage Collection. I believe that Paul Allen owns two CASA 2.111B’s, #167 and #169.
One can hope that FHC will restore one to airworthy in He-111 configuration in the future. Recently FHC has issued a public plea and is offering commissions for anyone able to produce missing drawings and blueprints for some of their more rare examples, such as the Ju-87 wreck they have in storage.

Is the plan to restore it to fly?
I for one would love to see a Casa in the air again, especially in proper Heinkel configuration.
How many Casas survive anyway?

I’m pretty sure i saw Paul Allen (of Microsoft fame) mentioned as the owner, and I read years ago in the much – missed (by me at least!) Warbirds Worldwide that he had bought one and was planning to convert it into a proper ‘einkel!
