hi there, in an other thread some guys of the community helped me to identify several parts as relics of a handley page hampden. today i got some interesting new parts and i would like to ask you, in which place of the plane they were bulit in. the hook is really heavy… perhaps you can help me with fotos or drawings. so, let´s have a look:

Reminds me of a dig where the crater from a crash had been filled with domestic rubbish over 40 years. It was very frustrating sorting out the few aircraft parts.

yes, it´s from the crashsite. but when i found it, i also thought, it´s newer. it was leaning on a tree, as if someone had put it there. when you touch it, it is smooth. i can´t imagine, where it comes from. maybee someone left it, installed a spy-cam in the trees and observed my reaction…

Erna – can you say where the panel came from? Presumably the Hampden crash site? I wonder if the Canadian built Hampden’s used zinc chromate…

It looks like a bit of American jet, printed rather than stamped, a Yank font and part number. I’m pretty sure Hampdens were not painted zinc chromate inside either!
The other bits are just right for a Hampden. I’ll try and dig out some photos.

I don’t see why it can’t be Hampden

Can we see the whole panel Erna?

wow, thanks for the quick reply. the panel was also strange for me. don´t know, how it got there… do you know, where i can find some fotos of the hook and the arm?

The first part is a bomb release hook, the second and last a bomb steadying arm. The other panel looks too modern for Hampden, the font and part number look very odd.
