Help with instrument ID

I’ve recently been given a number of instruments from a family member and was hoping to find some additional information about them.

The wording stamped on the face of the airspeed indicator:

Mk IX D No 60263/40R
FERRANTI LTD

I’m interested in knowing what type(s) of aircraft these might have been used in. Thanks for your help.

Thank you very much for the info. We’ll catalog it as a “possible” aircraft instrument.

The Jaeger 8 day clock looks more like a dashboard car clock than an aircraft fit.
It’s certainly very early… WW1 era, or thereabouts. Most aircraft clocks of the time had a winding stem at the bottom, and dashboard clocks had rear studs and brackets for proper mounting… much the same as 60s/70s Smiths car instruments…

But, a lot of the WW1 aircraft clocks became available and were fitted to sporty gentlemens’ motor cars after the war…. so I could be completely wrong!

Interesting. Is the 8 Day clock even an aircraft instrument? I tried Google but I couldn’t find anything.

The ASI is a standard Mk IXD 6A/415, as fitted to Blenheim, Defiant, Battle, Wellington, Lancaster, amongst others.

Well, the altimeter is a standard Type C altimeter from 1914-1918. Used in a wide variety of aircraft. Nice find!
