that’s really great, I saw the other net entry, but what I really wanted was his citation for his DFC, which you have supplied ! Thanks.

I would guess that this would be an ‘Immediate award’ as it was for this particular occasion.

His D.F.C. award is mentioned in the Yorkshire Post, December 7th 1943:

“Flying Officer Leslie Wyndham Crum whose home is at Keighley. On a sortie to Hamburg last July, his aircraft was badly damaged by an enemy night fighter. Two of the crew were killed and one wounded, but the navigational skill displayed by Flying Officer Crum enabled his pilot to fly safely to base.”

The aircraft was Lancaster III W4999 ‘X’ of 100 Sqn, and the date 29/30 July 1943. There are some more details here.
