I have completed the mammoth task of scanning all of my Grandfather’s (Squadron Leader Jack ‘Johnny’ Walker) pilots logbooks onto PDF.
His flying started in WWII on Halifax’s and finished after a career of flying transports on VC10’s in the early 70’s.
I am willing to give anyone who is interested a copy of the logbooks (500+ pages) for free via post.
If you would like a copy, please feel free to PM me, or email vc10jlw@gmail.com

I think/hope I’m all up to date with logbook requests now.
If you’ve asked for a copy and I’ve not sent one, please accept my apologies and send me a PM/email (vc10jlw@gmail.com) asking for them again!

Very interesting – what a diverse range of aircraft & locations – it must have made for a very exciting & interesting career – very different to the RAF of today!

Hi Whitley_Project, sorry; I didn’t see your comment yesterday! You’ve probably seen that yes, he did indeed fly some Whitley’s.
Thanks for the suggestion Tony. I actually got dropbox working yesterday, so they’re now on there. I hope he would be proud. I think it’s such a fascinating book that other’s will like to have the opportunity to look!
If anyone wants a copy, feel free to pm/email and I’ll gladly send the dropbox link over.

Rather than send out discs, you can upload large files onto the likes of
They can then be downloaded by sending the code to those involved, I used it for the painters and finishers manual.
And we’ll done for doing this, your Grandad would be proud of you and you are ensuring the legacy of his memory?

That’s quite a list of aircraft – nice to see he spent some time on 10 OTU as well.

Hi all,
Thanks for showing interest in the logbooks.
I’ve had a lot of requests now, so I am currently working on getting a dropbox account to share the logbooks from….postage costs were going to get very high if I posted discs out otherwise!
If I’ve not yet replied to emails/pm’s, please bear with me; I’ll reply when I have the account working!
In the mean time, please enjoy a copy of his record of service (his handwritten one in the back of the logbooks) to get you ready!

Hi Andy
It’s very decent of you to make your grandfathers logbook public – well done. Did he fly in any Whitley aircraft at all?

Hi Andy,
I’ve pulled this quote from an earlier post of yours, in case others were wondering sqn/time frame.
My Grandad (Jack ‘Johnnie’ Walker) flew Halifax’s on 10 squadron from around Sept ’43 until he and his crew were shot down on a raid on Leipzig on 19-20th Feb ’44
I am interested in the wartime part of the logbook as the period in question matches my relatives operations (different squadron though), would you consider emailing that part or putting it up online?
Good on you for scanning the logbooks, good to have backups.
Thanks,
Greg
