This was taken at Cosford about 1981.I think I am right in saying that on this forum I was told it had gone to Manchester Air&Space but the shackelton there is an AEW.Can someone explain what happened to the Maritime A/C shown?

It is very different, and its hard to find the correct parts. We have some Autolycus parts but are still looking for more. We’re still chasing turret components and scanner parts too.
The last MR2 was probably the gate guard at Lossiemouth, I think it lasted slightly longer than Cosford’s aircraft.

Thanks, that explains a lot!Maritime interior being totally different from AEW!!By the way Richw_82 do you have Autolycus equipment!!!
Shame though,no maritime MKs preserved anywhere, most of todays enthuisiasts only remember AEW models,ah well!Back to reading my “Growler”.

There are no surviving MR2 at the moment. Both WR963 and WL795 are retrofits. We’re collecting parts and digging out our drawings to put WR963 back to true MR Mk2 Phase 3 over the next couple of years.

There are other MR Shackletons preserved of coarse, including (before twin otter gets in!) the one at Newark. 🙂

It might be Shackleton MR2 WL801 which was scrapped at Cosford I believe circa 1985.
