Regardless, I can’t fathom why all conclusions of N3′ going to the IWM involve it being grounded?
Because they don’t and have never flown any of the exhibits they own IIRC, so it’s only natural to assume they aren’t suddenly going to do an about turn on a such a long term policy.
The only ‘half exception’ to this was Black 6, which wasn’t an IWM exhibit, it was still owned by the MOD, and as it wasn’t deemed appropriate to have been operated by the BBMF it was operated on behalf of the MOD by the team that rebuilt it, under the umbrella of the IWM….so, should not really be considered as IWM flying an one of it’s exhibits.
I too agree it will be a travesty to see N3200 grounded so soon after such a magnificent restoration.

Speaking of this, the Norwegian air force museum at Bodø and their collegues will soon have a flying aircraft in their midst; a Norseman. Operated by the Norwegian Spitfire Foundation.

Because it has yet to be handed over Kieran

I assume the one he is giving to Duxford will be grounded as well, such a waste!
Probably worth remembering that N3200 going to the IWM has been in the public domain for about a year now, has it been grounded?

And the Lanc’ and Hurricane made it back to terra-firma with no fatalities. These things happen, it’s the nature of the game- I’m pretty sure collectors and pilots are aware of this each time they strap into the cockpit.

It would be a great shame to see it end up static, she looks especially beautiful flying

I suppose if you really want it to be a long term investment grounding it is the safest thing, look at what’s happened in the last 2 weeks ,Lanc on fire ,Hurri on it’s nose in France,Sea Fury coming to grief in the USA .
Do many people buy them as investments?

Looking at the prices vintage Ferraris and art is making -its perfectly possible for someone to buy it to hang in their home!

Didn’t the last one to be auctioned end up in a static museum in China? Perhaps this one will go the same way. The Russians seem to be splurging the cash on ‘stuff’ these days, maybe it will go there.

There is no guarantee that a potential new owner will want it to fly again !
