Watched a very interesting TV program about the restoration of Gypsy Moth G-ABYA.
A quick Google seems to suggest information about the aircraft ends in 2003.
Does anyone have any further information on the condition and where-a bouts of the aircraft,
and where was the TV prog set?

I’m pleased to have seen this delightful Moth at Woburn a short while ago.

Seem to remember G-ABYA spun in at Biggin Hill during an airshow in the 1970’s. I remember watching the take off then what seemed like a few moments later the commentator said that the aircraft had crashed. The newspapers reported that the pilot and passenger both survived and the most serious injury was a broken arm.
Is this the first rebuild since that accident or did BYA succumb to another later accident?
Glad to see she is back in one piece again.

BYA lives in Kent. Very much loved and cherished by its capable owner.

Having strayed slightly from O.P’s initial question, where is ‘BYA? The owner’s address might suggest Audley End or Little Gransden. Anybody have the answer?

It was first aired a lot of years ago now.
I saw it and I too remember being told (or reading) later about who did the restoration.
Roger Smith.

I remember it too.
The series title was ‘Salvage Squad’, hosted by comedian Lee Hurst.
I believe the series is being re-run on on of the freeview/sat channels at the moment.
They also did one on returning on of Ken Wallis’s autogyros back to airworthy condition IIRC.

I remember this programme. It was part of a series where a team would restore something different each episode. They also restored a boat I think, that’s about all I can remember.
However I recall a very much respected authority on such aeroplanes telling me that despite what seemed to be happening in the show, the owner Cobby Moore actually did the restoration work himself.
Lastly, I’m sorry hampden98, but its 100 lines for you I’m afraid. ‘I must not spell Gipsy with two Ys’

My Google shows the last flying photo to have been taken in 2008 at Popham. GINFO shows a C of A renewal date of 3/15.
