What is this off?

I have this item off an aircraft. It is Brass, with the flip catch being Aluminium.

It is a very good casting a with a fine thread around the perimeter.

I am trying to identify the type of aircraft it is off.

I have been told a story, but am not convinced that it is even near accurate.

Does anyone know what it is?
