Blenheim Bargain on amazon– worth a read if you havent seen it before

I must have missed it when it was published in the late 90s but with Blenheim fever about to hit I can commend ‘Spirit of Britain First’ by the late Graham Warner telling the story of the first two restorations- found it on Amazon for a penny plus £2.80 P&P- excellent read and well worth getting if you haven’t seen it before- just in case anyone is interested!

As others have said a fantastic read. One of my most read books which is way out of proportion compared to my interest in the Blenheim as a type. Graham Warner doesn’t hold back in his opinions with regards to the crash of G-MKIV and who he blames or their previous failings at the helm.

After reading this thread the other day, I thought I too would order a copy and saw one on EBay for £3.40 which included P&P. The description said that it has a ‘scribble’ on the inside page, but this really wasn’t a problem as the rest of the book was stated as complete. Well it arrived yesterday as is pristine and the ‘scribble’ isn’t what I was expecting (child’s energetic drawing?), but this inscription:

“Dedicated to the Memory of 937492 Sgt. Kenneth Victor Turner, WOP/AG, 82 Squadron Royal Air Force, killed in action 13th August 1940 in the attack on Aarlborg Airfield, flying in Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV R3904 UX-K”

This is written in lovely writing and is signed by what looks like “J.W. James”

A lovely book…

Bought my copy a couple of months ago. Used books bought via Amazon are one of the apparent secrets of the publishing world. I’ve bought dozens and have never been disappointed. If it says “very good,” they’re like as not indistinguishable from new.
