Stondon Museum Closing

As a result of a note in the local paper about this museum closing on Easter Monday, I called in today to see if the 3 aircraft are still there and indeed they are. There is a Skeeter painted as XN341, a Flying Flea registered as G-ADRG and the Penn-Smith Gyroplane registered as G-AXOM. The young lady on reception wasn’t sure when/if they are being auctioned but the cars are due to be auctioned on 10th June and the motor bikes on 29th April. The auctioneers are Brightwells of Leominster. The cars are an eclectic bunch ranging from a Bond Bug to a Porsche Carrera but the aircraft would seem to be in reasonable condition and definitely worth saving, especially after the interest shown in the other Flying Flea thread. The telephone number is 01462-850339

Don’t know what it was like. But Lasham Glider Heritage Centre have a Flea that I think they would let go.

The auctioneer’s history of this Pou de Ciel replica (or late build – call it what you will) is to be found at http://classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php?id=5440. The engine, I suspect, came from a Citroën 2CV – which is original, but not original (if you get my drift!).

That’s a lot of money for a dead Skeeter. I wonder where it went.

ozplane. thanks for that, its been several years since I saw it whilst flying out of Henlow. I remember being surprised to see a man-o-war on top of a hill in Bedfordshire.

I think it was supposed to be the “Endeavour” but anyway it just rotted away and all that remains is the outline of the hull.

What’s going to happen to the Galleon (or whatever that ship was)?
