Piston Identification – A Forlorn Hope!

I bought this at Shoreham Aerojumble a couple of years ago. It was marked as having come from Hurricane P3157 of 310 (Czechoslovak) Squadron that was being flown by Eduard Prchal when it was shot-down on 26th August 1940; Prchal survived (wounded) after he force-landed the Hurricane on a beach a few miles south-east of Hornchurch.

I am 100% certain that this piston couldn’t have come from that aircraft; I knew that when I bought it but my question is (and I know it is a very long shot) does anybody recognise it or know which aircraft it did come from?

Yep, Daimler-Benz…..which is why I know it cannot be from a Hurricane! 😉

It is 150mm diameter and flat-topped which, I think, makes it a DB601N piston?

Is it a Daimler-Benz? What diameter is it?
