Back in the late 1980s I recall there was talk of returning a surviving Swift to airworthy condition, I believe it had reached quite a way into the project but then disappeared from the scene, does anyone recall what happened and what one it was?

Strange how we remember things differently, as I thought it was a total lack of serviceable brake components that bought the project to a halt. Maybe it was a combination of things – either way it was a disappointing outcome from a project that had so much potential!

I seem to remember the “official” reason for abandoning the restoration was excessive corrosion around the screen area, but there must have been issues with regards to the servicing and availability for the after-burning Avon.

Perhaps this was the corroded Swift fuselage that was parked with Jet Heritage at Bournemouth in the late 80s early 90s? I’m stretching my memory but, don’t recall any work being done while it was there.
