Hello,
I’m unable to locate any quality information anywhere on the internet that gives a satisfactory answer
to several questions regarding air bases in W. Germany during the late 1940s – eary 1950s period.
Is Erbenheim AB and Wiesbaden AB one and the same or seperate air bases at seperate locations?
There is a “Wiesbaden-Erbenheim” area on Google Earth but I cannot locate any seperate air bases
in the general area. If they are one and the same when were the names changes, if at all, and has it
always been known as “Wies-Erb AB”?
My Individual Aircraft Record Cards that I’m de-coding list them as seperate locations with seperate
station codes – E590 for Wies and E608 for Erben.
I have Rhein-Main AB sorted which is nearby at present day Frankfurt Intl.
Thank you.

As for your 2nd map unless you have a Harrier, no go.
Just ignore me -it was getting late! Thought I was looking at the remnants of an older airfield there but, reading through the website I linked to again, it appears that those coordinates relate to the wartime base for the flak; signals and other support units instead. Sorry if caused any confusion 🙁

I lived for 14 years just down the hill so to speak.
Wiesbaden-Erbenheim is the only active airfield now (US ARMY) mainly.
Although a few twin turbos with lots of antennaes fly from here heading east?( Or did)
As for your 2nd map unless you have a Harrier, no go.
The Wiesbaden-Erbenheim airfield is steeped in history, its where JG 53 formed.
Plenty of photos on the net.

The info on the following website http://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20Germany%20%5B1937%20Borders%5D.pdf relates to a slightly earlier time but may be of interest in that it gives Wiesbaden and Wiesbaden-Erbenheim as 2 separate locations. Using the map refs given they are/were situated like this –

Zooming in to Wiesbaden – possible remains? Unfortunately no Street-view of the area so hard to tell for sure.
