One thing I don’t understand that maybe someone here might know… If the ditched Halifax isn’t found and raised will the project continue. It seems like an awful lot of hard work and preparation is going on in anticipation of the Halifax being found but presumably a plan B exists should it not.
Would be fascinated to know.
They are doing a superb job. I imagine that if this ditched Halifax isn’t found, they will still rebuild whatever the next substantial remains that are discovered into it.

This is great news but how come we had a perspex nose for a Halifax sitting in the uk when they have had to put an imitation one on the rebuilt one at elvington.

This is a very exciting project led by the in-exhaustable Karl Kjarsgaard. A lot if important parts have been located already, mostly wingparts ( and my cockpit drawings).
Cheers

Thanks Steve, it sure is a very talented group working on the second Halifax for Canada. This one will be ground runnable if not possibly taxiiable one day 🙂

Well done to all involved, this really is a superb effort by what is obviously a great and dedicated team. A friend of mine – thankfully still with us – was a Halifax man on 296, 644 and 47 Squadrons and still speaks very fondly of the type (as indeed did all the Halifax men I have met and interviewed over the years).
