Just as background information the No.2 A.A.C.U. 540 records as follows:
29.11.39 Gosport – Squadron Leader C.C. Clark arrived from Pembrey to take command of the unit, Squadron Leader O.I. Gilson who is posted to Headquarters No.17 Group.
30.11.39 Gosport – Squadron Leader C.C. Clark on his first solo in a Skua crashed in Fareham Creek near Bedenham. Squadron Leader Clark was killed and salvage operations are still taking place.

L2981 was flown by Squadron Leader Cecil Christian Clark. It crashed on 30th November 1939 at Fareham Creek. Information re the crash is given under Sqdn Ldr Clark’s entry on this page –
