Hi all
I am trying to pin-point the crash site of a Wellington, X3816, at Stocking Farm, Beaumont Leys, Leicester. I have two references the first being in the Greystokes Walk area, and the second being near Blenheim Way. These two locations are very close to each other and are on either side of the crest of a hill and either side of the pressent Halifax Drive. So any helop is appriciated.
Also after information on the codes carried by this particular aircraft.
Thanks in advance,
Ritch.

Hi,
interested in this. I was born on Stocking Farm 1954. Always knew there had been a bomber crash at the top of the hill somewhere near the school. Seems you’ve pin pointed it to where the Old Folks bungalows are. I work voluntarily for CWGC so have details of all the crew burial places. Only one buried locally in Burton on the Wolds, The Pilot. He was Canadian F/O Donald McLean

Hi. If you are still interested in this I can tell you my grandfather was an eye witness to this crash. He was 30 yes old and a miner at ghe time, living at 47 Halifax Drive, Stocking Farm, Leicester. He was standing outside his front door when he plane passed directly overhead, so low he could see the look of horror on the faces of the crew. He was convinced that they intentionally manoeuvred the plane away from houses to crash on a bit of waste land atvgbe top of that hill. We used to walk with our grandfather across that bit of ground to the shops and he would point to a very rough patch of the common and tell us the story. It is now a very small area of trees. The attached screenshot shows the location of the house at no 47 and crash site in centre if image.

“The crash occurred near Stocking Farm, close by Belgrave in the northeastern suburbs of Leicester.” https://bcatp.wordpress.com/category/no-5-i-t-s-belleville/page/2/
this is close to Blenheim Way!
