Aircraft part ID

Hi Gents,

Any ideas what this is please? It was for sale on Ebay advertised as part of an aircraft gun turret sight bracket and we brought it for that very purpose for the museum as the shape of it will allow us to display a turret gun sight in a new display. I’ve got mixed feelings whether it actually is for a gun sight so it would be great if anyone could identify it please. It’s made by Belling and Lee limited.
