YB-17 picture

The Y1B-17A first flew with superchargers on top.
I checked that installation before I wrote my post.

Well, nothing I had described that difference, and you didn’t mention it, so I didn’t &^%$# know!

It’s not the Y1B-17A – that was the test-bed for the turbosuperchargers, and this photo shows they are not installed (underside of engine nacelles).

Is in an original photographic print (not a mass reproduction)?
If so, it will increase the chance that it’s original.

The aircraft itself is one of the 13 Y1B-17s or the sole Y1B-17A.
The absence of unit markings (numbers on the nose and tail) would indicate the photo was taken early in the aircraft’s life…so 1937-8.
Likely taken either in Seattle or Wright Field.
I’ve checked my more esoteric B-17 references and did not find the photo.

You might ask the staff at the Museum of Flight in Seattle or Boeing PR.
If it’s a previously unknown photo, it would be nice to share it with them.

Don’t think I’ve seen it before.
