Is this an aircraft seat?

Hello,

A friend has sent me images of a chair he owns and I am wondering if you can help me to determine what it comes out of please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hurrah, thanks guys. I never wouldn’t worked that one out.

I admit it looks uncomfortable but am reliably informed it’s quite comfy even without cushioned pads!

Thank you so much.

It matches the crew seats in my Airspeed Ambassador AP. The Hinged extensions are for ‘Thigh pads’.

What would those hinged extensions be for. Looks damn uncomfortable to me.

Yes, it’s definitely an aircraft seat.

Judging by the writing on it it’s from a BEA-owned or operated aircraft from the 1950’s. The PS prefix may indicate that it’s a pilot’s seat. It certainly looks like one.
