The IAR factory in Romania is welknown before/during and after the war.
But during the pre war period there has been more factories in Romania.
During the twenties Stefan Protopopescu designed some biplanes.
Its first was the Proto-1 (1922) which was build at the Aeronautical Arsenal and there were 25 ordered for the airforce as trainer. But unlucky the first prototype crashed because of some problems with the wing. After modification 24 were deliverd as Proto-2 to the Airforce.
Based on this aeroplane he designed a new one, of which only two were build, this was named the Astra-Proto(1925). This was build at the Astra factory.
And the last, for so far I know, was the Proto-SET-2 (1927) which was designed as a reconnaissance aeroplane. These were build at the SET factory (2 pieces).
Who knows more about these aeroplanes?
What were the colors of the 24 Proto-2 who were used by the Airfoce?
Is there any information how and in which colors the other types were pianted?
