Recieved an email and photograph from a chap called Ian Allan who has two bits from Lancaster PB355 which crashed on Worthing Beach in December 1944. He say’s: “I’ve just got them back from my chum (also our local RAFA secretary and retired W.O engineer) his view is that the smaller bit (green of ‘eau-de-nil’ as he calls it) is clearly fuselage interior but could be anywhere. The second and larger piece is all black and he thinks after chatting with some of his contacts (including at the BBMF) it is possibly/ probably from somewhere like an engine-nacelle and maybe in the region of the oil-cooler intake.” Can anyone support this or perhaps suggest another area of the aircraft. Many thanks in advance.
