dark light

Portsmouth Aero Club

I flew as a passenger a few times in 1959/1960 in Austers. I am pretty sure two were G-AJIS and G-APKD (or possibly B). Can anyone shed any light to refresh my memory? Do any still exist? My memory was jogged by the G-AGTO Autocrat thread here.

Had the misfortune of a ‘test lesson’ in a Rollason Condor with ‘some guy from the clubhouse’, almost put me off learning to fly for good!

Many thanks, Planemikle. It’s good to know that those two are still with us after nearly 70 years. That picture brings back a few memories!!;)

Both Austers were indeed with Portsmouth Aero Club. G-AJIS is still in this country with a current CofA, see G-INFO. G-APKD was exported to Ireland and then on to Australia where it appears to be current as VH-KSP.
