The council scrapping the airshows a couple of years ago, just didn’t want anyone else taking over.
The organisers don’t really seem to have thought things out.

Latest in the local paper is that the organisers weren’t aware that the council wanted £50,000 to cover the cost of road closures so they looked at moving the show to East Beach, Shoeburyness.
East Beach has become a non starter because the MOD aren’t happy about the display aircraft flying over their land adjacent to East Beach some of which forms part of what was the Proof and Experimental Establishment which includes Foulness Island. The other problem is that there is no way that East Beach is big enough to handle the crowds and has little in the way of car parking so, unfortunately it just isn’t a viable alternative.

I see a John Delaney’s name associated with this.
Is this the same John Delaney from Duxford?
It would seem really that there are probably too many shows on at the same weekend now?

So that’s Goodwood, Kenley, Duxford and Southend on the same weekend. That should stretch the potential display participation……

It always used to work in Southends favour when their airshow was the same weekend as Mildenhall.

I won’t hold my breath at there being another airshow at Southend, although nit would be nice.
Especially “If” they got the Vulcan in it’s last season, and “if” PA474 brought a twin engined friend with her.
