I am delighting in reading a small number of old “Flights” (1932/33) a friend gave me a few days ago.
April 27, 1933 a news item titled ‘Africa’s first aerial stowaway’ told of one Joseph Reder a 24 years old Austrian who stowed away on Imperial Airway’s “City of Baghdad” from M’Byea, Tanganyika to ?? (article doesn’t mention the destination).
Reder “…..had thought out an invention which would revolutionise flying….” and was trying to get to Germany in pursuit of two friends in whom he had confided the secret but now mistrusted.
Does this ring any bells with anyone?? I have so far tried one or two search engines without success.
