B17 returns home to Horham.

Well parts of it has.

Anyone know anything on this B17 or its crew, searched ANS and found this

So not sure if its the same one.

Name “Junior She´s My Gal II”.
Shot down by fighter flown by OFw Scherer of 1/JG11 over Beilen, Holland. All crew bailed out. Pilot evaded capture for 4 months, but all were eventually taken prisoner.
Parts recovered in 1988.

Your source is suspect.

This was Black Monday (First raid on Berlin by USAAF) and another 68 bombers were downed that day (B17 and B24)
