Just saw this account, from a schoolboy at the time, of a Lib and a Fortress colliding on assembly over the border between Morley and Sutton.

Does anybody else know anything about this? Where did the aircraft come down? What squadrons / groups where they from etc. Must have been a big raid if they where using aircraft from different Wings (B17s and B24s. Not too sure how US Squadrons / groups / wings work)
Also, does anybody know of the Halifax that crashed in Besthorpe carr? Could that be the same one that was piloted by an Australian crew and went down with engine trouble? The closest reference I can find is to a B24 that collided with another in a landing accident going to Old Buck with 2 engines out coming back from Madgeburg I think.
Thanks in advance.
