What Luftwaffe fighter units took part in the initial invasion of Norway on 19th April 1940? Same info if possible for Denmark.

It was a surprise to me too. I’d been searching recently looking for something on the BOAC Ju.52 which was captured during the invasion, and I hadn’t found that paper.

Thanks for the info. I already knew of the Me110 units taking part but I wasn’t sure of the numbers involved and you have confirmed it was 70. I had no idea that the Me109s were from JG1 which was the unit Werra was glad to be away from because of the inactivety at Jesau. Transferred in Feb 1940 to JG3 to protect Berlin he missed this chance of early combat as well as the initial attack in the west. Not getting into serious action until the 20th May.
The date of the 19th April was a mistype on my part. Again thanks for the info-I’d never have found that item on the internet!

It was April 9th, not 19th.
A couple of minutes Googling found this research paper:
http://www.nordiki.no/9april1940.pdf
The controlling unit was Fliegerkorps X. On page 31 it says the fighter groups were:
JG1 with 30 Me.109
ZG26 and ZG77 with 70 Me.110 between them.
Page 32 lists their deployment, through Denmark, so I’d imagine the same units covered both.
