Today a Vickers 814 Viscount of Lufthansa had her last “flight”, though staying in the “air” in the future. The aircraft was aquired by the Technic Museum Speyer from Lufthansa. This morning it was lifted by 3 cranes on a steel support structure, next to the Boeing 747. The inside of the Viscount can be accessed from mid-October on. If you are in the vicinity, a visit might be in order.

Good to see Viscounts being preserved, but not inside.
There used to be on at Cosford IIRC, but it was to be seen when I was there in April. Did I miss it, is it still there?

There is more to see at Sinseim aircraft wise. Its easy to do both museums aircraft wise in a day without rushing.

You could do them in one but two days would allow a more leisurely visit, especially if you are interested in the wide variety of vehicles etc. that they also house.
Exactly what I would have written. If you only like to see planes, and are willing to rush through both of the museums, you might do it in one day. But I would recommend doing it in one day for each. Though the distance between them is not that far, traffic mostly is busy at least on the Autobahn. This alone might spoil your timetable especially if you are driving between Monday and Saturday, when a lot of lorries are jamming the lanes.

P.S.: Good idea by RMR to include Hermeskeil in a 2 days tour. A lot of planes there, well worth visiting too!

Would you recommend two days to cover Sinsheim and Speyer Museums?
I did both museums earlier this year plus Hermeskeil Museum in a two day car tour from/to Frankfurt.
Three museums, three Viscounts :eagerness:
